In homes, industrial and commercial structures, exterior doors offer several benefits. Aside from aesthetic or design qualities, it also provides security and protection from outer elements. It is the first line of defense from bad weather, burglary and unwanted intrusion. And being points of entry and exit, sturdy construction and outdoor exposure resistance is a must.

Exterior design is important to give fantastic impressions. There are a number of designs which use a variety of materials. Many designs are available like flush, paneled, glass, sliding, French, side lights, external patio, unglazed, triple glazed, hardwood, exterior oak, and much more.

There are three basic things an external door provides. First, with the many styles available every need and preference can be sufficed. Second, levels of security can be based on types of design depending on the need of a home, business and the like. Third, it is a very reliable protection from harsh weather elements. It is considered a good barrier from strong winds, heavy rain, and other extreme natural weather disasters.

If style and quality is the goal, paneled designed doors are always a great choice. To allow wood to contract, it is manufactured with inserts that are framed. Said material expands and contracts during changes in climate or weather. Flushed designing on the other hand is covered with veneer that ranges from cheap to expensive exotic materials. With veneer, a door can appear to have an unbroken exterior which is smooth.

Glass doors also vary in sizes from small windowpanes to full sized doors. Sometimes, design integrates glass in order to allow several panes to be placed. Said panes aim to allow and open light entry. This highly depends on the needed amount of illumination in a certain room or area. Most French door designs incorporate such light concepts while atriums and patio entrances often use full and single glass panes.

Various materials are used in manufacturing like wood, steel, fiberglass, aluminum or even a combination of mentioned materials. Measurement follows a specific international standard. The standard is as follows, thickness is 8 inches, width is 3 feet, and height is 6 feet.

Considered as the most famous material, wood is used by different manufacturers. Several types of wood include pine, fir, and oak. Usually, manufacturers produce vertical rails from separate pieces of woods and laminate them together in lengthwise manner. This process would prevent the wood from deforming in dampness. Furthermore, steel or metal has become a popular material because it provides more security. It is weather-resistant due to the vinyl coating, providing better security.

Consequently, fiberglass materials are ideal within humid areas since these are resistant to bowing or warping. It also requires minimal maintenance compared to other materials. Paneled or flushed are mostly made of fiberglass, along with varied designs, from natural-looking wood to wood stain or finish. For custom made, aluminum is a great alternative to suit unique shapes of entry points. This material lightweight, is resistant to rust, and even has longer warranty. Certainly, varied materials of exterior doors proffer distinctive styles and the level of security system so as to meet individual needs, as well as to exceed common architectural designs.
