I am certain you understand, especially if you have a large number of people living with you, that the bathroom is the most popular room in the house. The majority of people probably spend around an hour in the bathroom each day. And if you have a lot of people in your home you know that there always seems to be someone in the bathroom. The funny thing is the fact that for a room that gets more use than just about any other room in your home it is also generally the smallest room in your home. Before you redesign your bathroom, there's something you need to think about before you start.

To begin with, you should look into adding a shower stall as opposed to a bathtub. It is usually not very often that folks take a bath in the bathtub. If you have small children however, a bathtub is probably your best option. If the majority of of the people in your home are at least twelve years old, there is no reason for you to install a bathtub instead of a shower stall. By building a shower stall instead of a bathtub, you will open up the room to your bathroom. For those who have a smallish bathroom, you'll appreciate the newly found space.

If you intend to replace the basin in your bathroom, pick one in lighter colors. Darker colored sinks will truly exhibit the hard water stains, soap scum and water spots. You wind up cleaning up your bathroom sink more than once a day. So, you'll want to look for a light color for your sink.

If you want to change the color design of your bathroom and you prefer to get colored fixtures, be sure to get your fixtures before you remodel. You will find some effort involved in finding different colored fixtures and also there may be some waiting time after you ordered them. But when you do not need fancy fixtures, just get the white or off white ones. You will find your regular white fixtures in any do it yourself center. It is then easy for you to switch the fixtures when the moment comes.

If you have tile to your shower stall, you may need to wait a couple of days until the tile is stuck tight to the ground. So in the event it took a week to remodel the bathroom, you may need to wait a couple of more days to use the shower. You might find yourself undertaking more work if perhaps you add tile to your shower stall than if you didn't.

And one last item to consider is be sure you have an acquaintance nearby that can let you use their bathroom while you work on yours.
