When you are bitten by a mosquito, you will then know that there are hundreds or thousands of them living just within your residence. You most likely think it is time for you to do the necessary eradication process like fogging, pesticide spraying and using insect repellants. Unfortunately, those methods will kill few of the annoying insects and it could also endanger a person's health.

The reality is that bats are not some hideous creatures as some of horror movies might portray them but actually they don't attack the humans. They do not also fly into human hair intentionally. In reality they can be vital to control the insects present in our surroundings.

600-1200 insects is what can be consumed by one bat in an hour's duration and even more if it is nursing young. So just give it a thought if these bats weren't there then what would have been the quantity of insect populations today.

Unfortunately, bat species has declined in a drop rate of 40% which has caused to boost the population of insects. That is why bat houses should be installed near your home so as to attract bats.

There are ways to attract bats to your bat houses. You need to first have an appropriately planned bat house. Perfect bat houses draws attention to bats especially if those are created with the likeness of a real bat cave.

Mid-sized bat houses are often advisable as they prefer living in colonies and such house can be supportive to adjust 100-300 bats. 360,000 mosquitoes can be consumed by the bat colony that contains 300 bats in just one hour.

You should mount the bat house at a height of around 15-10 ft optimal and preferably on some building or a pole in order to have best results. Lower rates of occupancy have been observed in the houses that are mounted on the trees. Sun exposure should also be provided but at night bright lights exposure should be avoided.

If you install a bat house insect population around the home of yours would be reduced. Besides this, this ecological resource which is very important will also be protected.
