Health Advantages Of Hot Tubs

Most individuals feel happy whilst they are in or around water. Swimming baths and the seaside are happy places with smiling faces and children running around laughing. We all feel better for soaking in a bath or taking a shower. There is something about water, particularly warm water that elevates our mood. There are a few believable ideas why this is so ranging from the fact that we came from the sea, which was warm then to the fact that we gestated in a fluid in our mother's warm womb.

We can replicate whichever of these reasons for feeling glad in warm water by relaxing in a warm spa or hot tub as it is known in America. Lying in a hot tub is a great way of de-stressing after a hectic day and it is also a fantastic way of cleaning the skin of the daily pollution it is open to.

Health care experts tend to agree, although fewer would say that the massaging impact of the bubbles does you any physical good. Nobody would say that it does any harm either and the bubbling, churning water certainly has a useful psychological impact.

One of the most noticeable effects of being in a hot tub is the reduction of the impact of gravity due to the buoyancy of the water. Whilst we are in water the effects of gravity on our bodies are reduced by 20%-30%. We feel a lot lighter and that in itself is a nice feeling.

While the body is under less gravitational stress, the pressure is off various parts of the body that normally bear our weight. This gives those parts like feet, knees hips and back a chance to rest. In fact, the whole skeletal system gets a opportunity to relax and with it the heart as well, because you are not moving around. The warm water warms the body and this allows the blood to flow more easily giving the heart even more chance to rest.

The warm water in a hot tub will also relieve tired muscles, aching joints, cramps, knotted muscles and some types of arthritis. Breathing in warm water vapour will also be a treat for your nasal passages alleviating any possible blockage there. You could also add aromatherapy oils to the water to give precise effects. Bath salts will also be good for your skin and joints and the smells may also help you relax.

If you normally have trouble sleeping, sleep normally comes easy after a soak in a hot tub, so you may find that you have not enjoyed so many consecutive good nights' sleep in years. A home spa system is a decent investment in your family's well-being if you have the room and funds for one.

It will make taking a bath fun for the kids and it will provide much needed relaxation for their parents, besides providing an enjoyable way to stay clean and take the weight off your feet.

What Are Air Conditioning Filters For?

|
By Owen Jones

Air conditioners have always been popular, but they used to be expensive to buy and expensive to run. These days they are cheaper to buy. It is not so bad if you live somewhere where you need heating for three months and cooling for three months, but if you live somewhere where you have one unit or other running twenty-for hours a day, seven days a week, it is still expensive.

However, the luxury that they impart to your life is remarkable. But, the thing to bear in mind is that air conditioners, like all machines, do require servicing. That is, the actual moving parts, lubricants and other fluids need to be checked professionally every two years (or whatever it says in your handbook). There are other parts though that have to be checked far more often than that - maybe even monthly.

The good news is that you can carry out this maintenance yourself. I am talking about the filter. All good, modern air conditioning units come with an in-built filter. It depends on the sophistication of your air conditioner, what its filter can trap, but most will filter small particles such as pollen and traffic pollution out of the air it is circulating in the room.

These filters have to be cleaned or replaced pretty frequently and you will have to check your air conditioner's handbook to find out what you can do. Frequently, it will say that they can be cleaned two or three times with either soapy water and a tooth brush or vacuumed clean. After that they have to be replaced, in order for the unit to be completely effective.

If you need to replace your air filter, you may find the following hints useful.

The best place to start is either the main dealer for your make of air conditioner, the people you bought it from or the people who fitted it for you. At least, you know you can trust them, even if it is only a matter of 'better the devil you know'. Many of the stores that sell other makes of air conditioner may stock filters for your model as a sideline too.

You are already using the Internet, so that is another good place to check for current prices and bargains, before you go walking around town. 'Fore-warned is fore-armed', as they say. You can utilize the price knowledge you gain from your Internet surfing as a bargaining tool to get the best price in your neighborhood.

If that does not work or you just cannot be bothered, order on line and your air conditioner filter will be with you in a couple of day anyway. By the way, like with vacuum cleaner bags, it is normally better to purchase several at a time. For example, if you know that they will withstand three washes, then each filter will last four months. Why not buy three and be done with it for a year?

Water Heaters Can Now Make Efficient And Money-Saving Utilization Of Solar Power

Have you ever been enjoying a long hot shower when it suddenly turned icy? Instantly available hot water is often taken for granted, and is not totally appreciated until it stops. Water heaters are most commonly run on fossil fuels, and the supply of heating oil and natural gas is not infinite, as we all know from their relentlessly upward prices.

There is a fuel, however, which costs absolutely nothing once the proper collection equipment has been seated. The transition from fossil to sun-based power is usually best done by a solar thermal systems technician who is familiar with all the details of installation. He or she will take into consideration the regional climate, including the average amount of sunlight available during any given year.

Included in this process are the roof-top solar collectors and the connected storage units. They often fall into two popular types of systems, including the passive-type system, which does not require a pump. The active system, however, does come with a pump and its controls. All systems in general require the installation of at least one storage tank, and sometimes more.

Solar collectors are usually roof-mounted. Most residences will use one of three types, including the integral collector and storage system, a flat-plate collector, and evacuated tube solar collection devices. These panels are visible, but do not look intrusive or out of place on most buildings. Sunlight passes through the outer coating of all these plates, and is converted to "long wave heat", rather like the interior of a closed-up automobile in the hot sun.

The collected or stored energy goes from panel to storage tank. Some systems accomplish this by utilizing a special hot fluid that is pumped there by an electric device powered by a wall outlet, or even by a comparatively small photovoltaic unit adjacent to the collectors. No heat is lost, and the unit will almost always be ready for someone to take a shower or wash the dishes.

The supply will not run out, even on those heavy-use days. The storage tanks are larger than conventional heaters, and designed to last through the night. If use is overwhelming, most will have a backup system connected to conventional power sources. The collectors, however, are super-efficient, and are able to absorb the maximum amount of solar radiation available on any given day.

Before making the switch to solar, begin by screening your potential contractor. Ask about the company's experience with solar heating systems, and check licensing and certification, which varies by region. The initial investment is solar water heaters is not cheap, but will save very substantial mounts over a period of years, especially as the price of oil and natural gas increases. When the old heater dies, consider installing an energy-efficient solar heating system as a replacement.
